ENERGY SUMMIT’S PARTICIPANTS HOLD NEWS CONFERENCE
A news conference on the results of Energy Summit took place on 11 May in Krakow, Poland.
Presidents Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan, Lech Kaczynski of Poland, Mikhail Saakashvili of Georgia, Viktor Yushchenko of Ukraine, Valdas Adamkus of Lithuania, as well as Deputy Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources of Kazakhstan Lyazzat Kiinov took part at the event.
Opening the news conference, President Lech Kaczynski highlighted on results of the Summit, on which the participants have signed an official Communiqué.
President of Lithuania Valdas Adamkus noted that the Communiqué includes questions of development of transport infrastructure, transportation of oil and gas to the European markets, cooperation of the Baltic, Black Sea and Caspian countries, integration to Europe.
The Joint Communiqué allows the countries attending the Summit to realize concrete projects, President of Poland said. President of Georgia gave high assessment to the role of Azerbaijan in energy question and as an example for regional cooperation produced interaction of the two countries. He expressed keenness of his country in transportation of the Caspian oil to Europe through the Georgia-Ukraine-Poland route. Currently the energy questions are pushed forward, President of Ukraine noted, expressing support for stance of Azerbaijan in energy security of the friendly counters.
Speaking at the news conference, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev thanked the President Lech Kaczynski for nice organization of the Summit. Head of the Azerbaijan State said there are good opportunities for regional cooperation. Energy security is one of the key issues in which Europe is interested. Azerbaijan has great potential in energy sector and makes notable contribution to regional co-op. There are new oil-and-gas fields in Azerbaijan and export pipelines for transportation of hydrocarbons, President Aliyev said, emphasizing that the country transports its natural resources to the European and world markets via different routes.
There is concrete work on cooperation in the energy sector, President Aliyev stated. The Joint Communiqué reflects positions of the countries on this matter. The regions of Caspian, Black Sea and Baltic become a common region, he underscored, expressing confidence that the documents signed with the European Union on cooperation in the energy sphere open large opportunities before Azerbaijan.
Representative of Kazakhstan noted that his country is fully right to transport its oil to the world markets in different routes.
Then, the Heads of State answered questions of media representatives.

Late the same day, President of Poland President Lech Kaczynski arranged a reception in honor of the Summit participants.
