EURASIAN MEDIA FORUM UNDERWAY IN ALMATY
Nearly 600 politicians and representatives of leading media outlets from more than 50 countries gathered in Almaty, Kazakhstan to take part in the 6th Eurasian media forum started here on Thursday, aZERtaJ CORRESPONDENT OFOR Central Asia reports.
Director General of the Azerbaijan State Telegraph Agency AzerTAj Aslan Aslanov is among participants of the event.
The forum was opened by Dariga Nazarbayeva, Chair of its organizations committee, member of Kazakh Parliament.
Also addressing the event were President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev and ex-President of Iran Mohammad Khatami.
Agenda of the first day of the forum included following issues: dehumanization of global politics and recognition of crisis of the fundamental principles of the international law; Iraq: justice and democracy open to question; Eurasia: questions and answers of regional security; maintaining security in the post-soviet space; “frozen” conflicts in the Nagorno-Karabakh, Abkhasian, south-Osetian and Trans-Dniestr regions, and ways of their settlement; US-Iran relations: nuclear program: right of a sovereign state or dangerous ambitions?; possible effect of coolness in relations between Russian and Georgia on stability in the countries of region; situation and prospects in Turmenistan and others.
Kasymjomart Tkayev, Chairman of the Kazakh Senate, Evgeniy Primakov, President of Russia’s Chamber of Trade and Commerce, Chdirman of the Russian Islamic Committee Heydar Jamal, former U.S. Deputy Defense Secretary Richard Perle, Richard Holbrooke, former U.S. Assistant Secretary of State took part in discussions.
The forum will end on April 21.
