On August 28, the Federal Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel will visit Vatican to take part in an audience, which the Pope Benedict XVI arranges specially for her, the Department of Federal Chancellor said.

The representative on relations of the Chancellor of Germany with Vatican Thomas Schteg in the interview to journalists has confirmed that the audience takes place in summer residence of the head of Roman Catholic Church Castle-Gandolf.

After completion of ceremony of the official audience, the sides will have a private meeting and during discussions they will exchange views on deepening of cooperation between Germany and Vatican, also focus on the questions of preparation for visit of the sacred father on the native land, Germany, to take place in September of this year.
