FIRST BAVARIAN-AZERBAIJANI ECONOMIC FORUM HELD IN BAKU
The 1st Bavarian-Azerbaijani Economic Forum organized by German-Azerbaijani Business Association (DAWF) held in Park Inn-Azerbaijan Hotel, on Thursday.
About 90 businessmen of both countries engaged in construction, light industry, tourism, town planning, metal working areas attended the event.
Addressing the meeting, Executive Director of DAWF Mr. Florien Schroeder told of significance of the forum adding that the event would make contribution in further expansion of bilateral relations.
Deputy Ambassador of Germany to Azerbaijan Mr. Hans Josef, deputy head of the department of the Ministry of Economy, Infrastructure, Transport and Technology of Bavaria Mr. Falk Singer, deputy head of DAWF board, head of Commerzbank’s Baku office Mr. Marco Graff expressed their satisfaction with current state of the economic ties between Azerbaijan and Germany.
Mr. Singer informed in detail about economic indices, business-milieu of Bavaria - the largest land of Germany.
Head of entrepreneurship development department of Azerbaijani Ministry of Economic Development Mr. Samir Huriyev underlined that today political and economic reforms are successfully implementing in Azerbaijan. The reforms established marcoeconomic stability and GDP’s dynamic growth in the country.
Azerbaijan established bilateral economic relations with the leading countries of world. Official visit of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to Germany, in the last year, gave impulse to development of the bilateral economic ties between the two countries. In 2007, total commodity turnover between Azerbaijan and Germany was US $ 490,7 mln, said Mr. Nuriyev.
President of Azerbaijan Investments and Export Promotion Foundation (AZPROMO) Mr. Emil Majidov gave detailed information about favorable opportunities in the country for businessmen. AZPROMO and Azerbaijani Investment Company are ready to render any assistance to foreign investors in organization of business, said Mr. Majidov.
Later, businesspersons of Azerbaijan and Bavaria held bilateral meetings and the “round table” on the topic “ Construction industry in Azerbaijan”.
