FIRST HPS PUT INTO OPERATION IN GEORGIA AFTER 20 YEARS
After 20 years interval, the first hydroelectric power station was put into operation in Georgia, holding with rich water resources for power generation. Production capacity of Khador hydroelectric power station built in Pankisi gorge makes up 24 megawatt. The station built on Alazan River - the first station constructed by Chinese company “Slchuan” in Kakhet region of Georgia.
Construction of this station, in which 25 mln dollars invested, started three years ago.
Issues on granting licenses to the station and establishment of prices for energy are discussing now. The Chinese investors spent some million dollars more, as the government of Georgia did not keep words on privileges for construction works. That’s why cost for one kwh power is 12 tetry (6 cent), while this figure in other hydroelectric power stations totals 2-3 tetry.
