FIRST INTERREGIONAL FORUM OF AZERBAIJANI YOUTH IN RUSSIA HELD IN MOSCOW
The first interregional forum of Azerbaijani youth of the Russian Federation organized by the Coordinating Council of the Azerbaijani Youth in Russia and Leyla Aliyeva, head of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation’s office in Russia and President of the Azerbaijani club at the Moscow State University for International Relations. The forum gathered over 120 members of the youth organizations of various universities including young people from seven regions of Russia. Forum participants discussed issues concerning the activity of Azerbaijani youth and their integration into the Russian society.
Leader of the youth movement Leyla Aliyeva said in her remarks that Ilham Aliyev decreed to announce this year as the Year of Youth, and this forum is a part of series of events scheduled within its framework. L. Aliyeva told of the activities of youth organizations and their tasks. According to her, tens of thousands of Azerbaijanis live and work today in all regions of Russia. Youth Organizations become more active, and play a key role in the social life. On the activity of the Azerbaijani Club at the Moscow University of International Relations, she said, “This youth organization has existed for four years. On one hand, its goal is to attract students, ensure their adaptation, and, on the other hand, to worthily demonstrate Azerbaijan to Russia and promote friendship between the peoples”. She pointed out that economy of Azerbaijan is rapidly developing with the living standards rising and civil society institutions improving. The country becomes more important regionally and globally.
“It helps our youth establish international relations, and equal cooperation with its partners,” said the leader of the youth movement, adding that the forum will make Azerbaijani youth in Russia ever closer.
Chairman of the Coordinating Council of the Azerbaijani Youth of Russia Siyavush Mammadov expressed gratitude to the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and head of its office in the Russian Federation for the active role in the Azerbaijani young people’s life. He also told of the activity of this organization, events and cooperation with the youth organizations of Moscow and Russian regions.
Also speaking at the forum were students and representatives of the university youth organizations.
The speeches were followed by discussions on prospects of strengthening youth dialogue and cooperation.
