FIRST LADY OF AZERBAIJAN MEETS WITH PRESIDENT OF FRENCH SENATE
Mehriban Aliyeva, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, UNESCO and ISESCO goodwill ambassador, MP, met with Christian Poncelet, President of the French Senate, on April 2.
Mr. C. Poncelet thanked M. Aliyeva for accepting the invitation. He expressed satisfaction with how Azerbaijan-France relations have developed in recent years. He said political, economic and cultural ties between the two nations are developing rapidly.
The President of Senate pointed out he is interested in peaceful resolution of the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh.
M. Aliyeva conveyed Azerbaijani Leader’s best wishes to C. Poncelet, saying Ilham Aliyev is satisfied with the steady development of bilateral relations between the two countries.
M. Aliyeva told of her activities as UNESCO goodwill ambassador. First lady of Azerbaijan said she pays a special attention to cooperation with the UNESCO and will do everything possible to develop the ties with this organization.
M. Aliyeva invited the President of the French Senate to visit Azerbaijan. The latter accepted the invitation and said he will make a trip to Azerbaijan soon.
Chairman of the France-Caucasus group in the Senate Ambroise Dupont was present at the meeting.
Later, a reception was given in honor of Mehriban Aliyeva.
