FM: Honduras interested in developing relations with Azerbaijan
Baku, May 8 (AZERTAC). Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Honduras, Mireya Aguero de Corrales, has said her country was determined to develop its relations with Azerbaijan.
Speaking to a press conference following her meeting with Azerbaijani FM Elmar Mammadyarov in Baku, Aguero de Corrales said there was big potential for expanding the bilateral cooperation in a variety of areas.
“Our countries have been cooperating in international organizations. But we have already drawn up a working plan to build direct contacts.”
She said Honduras praised Azerbaijan`s position in Latin America.
“We see how important and beneficial the relations are. We discussed the bilateral cooperation in finance, oil and gas, infrastructure, investment making and other fields.”
On the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, the Honduran FM said her country backed Azerbaijan`s stance.
She noted the dispute should be solved within the framework of Azerbaijan`s territorial integrity and UN resolutions.
Aguero de Corrales called on the international community to react to the occupation of Azerbaijan`s lands and the problem of IDPs.
FM Mammadyarov said they discussed the ways of expanding the cooperation between Azerbaijan and Honduras on various fronts.
He said Azerbaijan opened a new page in the development of its relations with Central American countries, including Honduras.
The Azerbaijani FM said he informed his Honduran counterpart on the country`s position on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
