FM MAMMADYAROV RECEIVES COPIES OF CREDENTIALS FROM NEW AMBASSADORS
Azerbaijan`s Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov received Tuesday copies of credentials of new ambassadors of Portugal, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Denmark, Australia and Indonesia.
During his meeting with Portuguese envoy Jose Manuel de Carvalho Lameiras, the Azeri FM stressed the necessity of increasing efforts towards boosting the bilateral relations between the two countries.
The Ambassador said Portugal places particular emphasis on development of its relationships with Azerbaijan.
Elmar Mammadyarov handed over a draft project on memorandum of understanding between the two countries` foreign ministries to the Portuguese envoy.
The Azeri Foreign Minister`s conversation with Bangladesh Ambassador Mohammed Ishtiaq circled around prospects for boosting bilateral business and trade relations.
Bangladesh`s envoy praised Azerbaijan`s role in increasing international prestige of the Organization of the Islamic Conference.
During the meeting with Afghan envoy Muhammad Yahya Marufi, Elmar Mammadyarov spoke of Azerbaijan`s contribution to reconstruction work in Afghanistan, including building infrastructure and developing social sector.
The Azerbaijan FM also met with Denmark`s newly appointed Ambassador Jesper Vahr, and they stressed the need to intensify bilateral political dialogue.
Elmar Mammadyarov`s conversation with Australian envoy Peter Doyle revolved around prospects for bilateral relations.
The Australian envoy hailed positive changes in Azerbaijan.
With Indonesian envoy Ivan Veiranata Etmaja, Mammadyarov discussed preparation for an expected visit by Indonesia`s Foreign Minister to Baku this May.
The Azeri FM praised Indonesia`s supporting Azerbaijan`s just stance on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict with Armenia.
He expressed gratitude to the Indonesian government for backing the resolution “On the situation in the occupied territories of Azerbaijan” which was adopted at the UN General Assembly.
