FORUM ON CREDITING OF BAKU-TBILISI-CEYHAN PROJECT
The purpose of the meeting is to hear the opinion and proposals of public on the issue of BTC project crediting. EBRD and IFC have given 120 days for making remarks - until October 14.
Opening the forum, Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of Azerbaijan Huseyn Bagirov noted the necessity for the companies to comply with the laws of Azerbaijan. EBRD representative Charlotte Filips said that their purpose is to create conditions for the region to benefit from the projects. As to BTC pipeline security, she said that any leakage would be detected and blocked with fibro-optical line and computerized monitoring system. The security of the pipeline will be multilevel including the territories of the states crossed by the pipeline, and BP will organize horse safeguard group.
