GEORGIAN INTERIOR MINISTRY BOOSTS ITS BTC SECURITY EFFORTS
As AzerTAj’s Tbilisi-based correspondent reports, the Interior Ministry of Georgia has prepared the special program aimed at protection of Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan main export pipeline. Interior Minister Koba Narchemashvili has stated that the realization of such a vital and strategic project requires special security measures. In connection with this issue, the Ministry has formed a special monitoring group. Therefore, the further program deepens the more intensive the Interior Ministry’s efforts will be. According to him: “The Georgian Ministry of Internal affairs, in accordance with the three-power treaty, keeps in constant touch with the Azerbaijani and Turkish colleagues”.
During the meeting with president David Woodward of “BP Azerbaijan”, Interior Minister of Azerbaijan Ramil Usubov has announced the establishment of the special department to ensure security of the oil and gas pipelines lying in the Azerbaijani section of the MEP. He has also noted that this department will have its special representatives in the provinces who will coordinate their activity with the local police bodies and State Security Services.
“BP-Azerbaijan” President David Woodward highly appreciated the Ministry’s activity towards the provision of pipeline security.
