German embassy in Azerbaijan marks public holiday
Baku, October 4 (AZERTAC). The German embassy in Azerbaijan has organized an official reception to mark public holiday - the German Unity Day.
Following the national anthems of Azerbaijan and Germany, Ambassador Heidrun Tempel hailed development of relations between the two countries. The diplomat said Germany was one of the first countries recognizing Azerbaijan`s independence, and expressed confidence that the Germany-Azerbaijan cooperation would continue to develop in a variety of fields.
Addressing the event, Azerbaijan`s deputy minister of Economic Development Niyazi Safarov congratulated the German people on behalf of the Azerbaijani President. Safarov praised development of cooperation between Azerbaijan and Germany in political, economic, humanitarian and cultural fields. He noted nearly 70 documents and 30 economic agreements were signed between the two countries. According to him, in comparison with last year the turnover between the two countries has been increased.
Noting the activity of 160 German companies in Azerbaijan, the deputy minister stressed the importance of forums and exhibitions in terms of development of bilateral business relations.
The official reception brought together state and government officials of Azerbaijan, MPs, ambassadors of foreign countries in Baku and members of general public.
