Global transport conference kicks off in Turkmenistan

The first Global Sustainable Transport conference, under the auspices of the United Nations, kicked off in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan.
The event is attended by the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon.
A broad range of issues are on the conference agenda. They include sustainable transportation, environmental change, city transport system and transport communication between cities and villages, financing the transportation sector, international cooperation in transportation, development of multilateral transport corridors and infrastructure, as well as road safety.
The global conference is being held in accordance with the UN resolution adopted at the 70th session of the UN General Assembly in December 2015.
