GREEK DEVELOPMENT MINISTER SIUFAS VISITS AZERBAIJAN

The Greek Minister for Development, Dimitris Siufas, who is in Baku with a visit, has today arrived in the Alley of Honors and laid a wreath on the nationwide leader Heydar Aiyev’s tomb there.

Later on, in his interview to journalists, the Greek Minister said this visit would be the beginning of the cooperation between Azerbaijan and Greece. He went on to say that his country could play a role of transit for transportation of Azerbaijan gas to European market thorough Georgia and Turkey.

This will open new opportunities to transport Azeri gas to the countries of the European Union by means of the Southern Europe corridor, he underscored.

D. Siufas pointed out that Greece would support Azerbaijan in solving different problems.

The Azerbaijani Minister for Economic Development, Heydar Babayev, in his turn, said Azerbaijan has a good level of relations with Greece in all fields.

The Minister pointed out that a memorandum on transportation of Azerbaijani gas to Greece would be signed within the framework of Greek Minister’s visit. According to him, the document will also provide transportation of Azerbaijani gas to other countries via Greece’s territory.
