HEADS OF STATES GATHER IN WAWEL CASTLE FOR ENERGY SUMMIT
Presidents Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan, Mikhail Saakashvili of Georgia, Viktor Yushchenko of Ukraine as well as deputy Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources of Kazakhstan Lyazzat Kiinov arrived at the historical Wawel Castle in Krakow to participate in the Energy Summit. After the welcoming ceremony, Leaders of Azerbaijan, Georgia, Ukraine, Poland and Lithuania as well as 
Kazakh envoy partook in the Energy Summit’s first sitting entitled “Energy Security” to discuss prospects and state of energy cooperation among participating nations.

second sitting entitled “Development Strategy of National Energy Sectors and Conception of Central Asia-South Caucasus-Central Europe Transport Corridor”. The event was opened by President of Poland Lech Kaczynski who 
greeted the Heads of States and representative of Kazakhstan, and touched upon the importance of the summit.

The Head of State assessed the summit as an important international event, saying “we had a very fruitful and open discussions here today. 
We talked about future cooperation issues and are now continuing our discussions”. President Ilham Aliyev told of Azerbaijan’s participation in the global energy processes, country’s rapid economic development, increasing role in the region. With its increasing economic capabilities, according to him, Azerbaijan is an initiator and participator of global energy projects. The Head of State highlighted Azerbaijan’s enormous potential as Europe’s energy supplier with its capabilities to be increased in the future.
