Israeli journalists visit Azerbaijan Parliament
Baku, April 15 (AZERTAC). A group of Israeli journalists, who are in Baku for a visit, today met Azerbaijani parliamentarians here.
MP Fuad Muradov told of Azerbaijan-Israel relations and their prospects. He praised holding of an event on the occasion of the 21st anniversary of the Khojaly genocide in Tal-Aviv in February 25.
Muradov raised awareness of Israeli media representatives on activities of the Azerbaijani Parliament, its structure, legislation practice and international cooperation.
Member of Azerbaijan-Israel working group on interparliamentary relations Rasim Musabeyov, member of Parliament`s committee for international and interparliamentary relations Javanshir Feyziyev gave detailed information about large-scale projects being realized in Azerbaijan and in the region, and Azerbaijan`s increasing role in the world. They said Azerbaijan was a secular and democratic state. MPs said: “Azerbaijan is an example to other countries with its tolerance. After the restoration of its independence, Azerbaijan pays special attention to expanding relations with developed countries, including Israel. Today Azerbaijan-Israel relations are strengthening. Trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Israel is growing. The two countries enjoy military cooperation. Azerbaijan`s oil today makes up 40 percent of Israel`s consumption. Involvement of Azerbaijani companies in operation of Israel`s newly discovered gas fields will make a contribution to development of the bilateral ties.”
Parliamentarians hailed the current visit of media representatives of Israel to Azerbaijan, saying such trips make an impetus to boosting cooperation in all areas.
Lev Spivak from “Azlz” said the aim of the visit is to get accurate and rich information about “friendly country” Azerbaijan. “We are sure that this visit will play an important role in expanding cooperation in various fields, including culture, tourism and humanitarian”, he said.
Other journalists, including Hezki Bauch from Canal-7, Lilech Uaissman from Globs, Oranit Or from Galei, shared pleasant impressions about Azerbaijan.
They particularly praised infrastructure of the capital and hospitality of the people.
They described Azerbaijan as “tolerant and friendly country”.
