Istanbul hosts IDEF 2011 International Defense Industry fair
Baku, May 10 (AZERTAC). IDEF 2011 International Defense Industry Fair has today started in Istanbul, Turkey. Azeri delegation led by Yavar Jamalov, Minister of Defense Industry of Azerbaijan, joined the fair.
The event is organized by Tuyap Fair, Convention and Congress Center under the auspices of Turkish President Abdullah Gul, Turkey`s Ministry of National Defense and Turkish Armed Forces Foundation.
The exhibition has brought together 621 companies from 48 countries.
Along with the Ministers of Defense, Chiefs of Armed Forces, high-level civilian and military authorities and the executives of defense industry, procurement agencies of allied countries have got a chance to exchange views during May 10-13.
Turkish President Abdullah Gul has attended the fair. In the opening remarks he noted the importance of cooperation among the countries to prevent wars and provide peace in the world.
Ministry of Defense Industry of Azerbaijan displays 89 products including arms, ammunitions, mortar launchers, training ammunitions, optic installations and sniper rifle. The Azeri pavilion also features materials about Marauder and Matador mine-protected vehicles jointly produced by Azerbaijan and South Africa`s Paramount Group.
