Italy hosts popular Sanremo song contest
Baku, February 18 (AZERTAC). Popular Italian song contest starts today in the city of Sanremo.
The 64th marathon will be broadcast by the Italian Radio and Television Corporation (RAI) over five evenings.
Narrators of the festival that will be held at “Arena” theatre are going to be famous showman Fabio Fazio and actress Luciana Littizzetto.
This year's festival will be dedicated to satire and sports, but the organizers are trying to keep in a secret all the surprises.
The world of sport will be presented by the Italian Olympic champion Armin Tsoggeler, who won his sixth Olympic medal in Sochi.
The permanent “Roma” FC captain Francesco Totti, who is the symbol of the capital city and of his football club, is expected to appear at the "Ariston" theatre.
The first night of the ceremony will see the French actress Laetitia Casta, two well-known Italian actresses Kasia Smutniak and Cristina Capotondi among other stars.
In the creative competition, which will be judged by professional jury and audience through online voting, will be performing 14 already famous artists and eight newcomers.
As a rule, the scene "Ariston" becomes "springboard" for the professional careers of young artists in the entertainment business.
The festival has been held since 1951 and attended by the most famous Italian artists, from Adriano Celentano to Al Bano and Laura Pausini.
