Jordanian news agency posts article about Azerbaijan
Baku, August 16 (AZERTAC). Jordanian news agency Al Kheyma al Urdiniyya has published an article about Azerbaijan on its website.
The article highlights the country’s history, geographical position, religion, culture and political structure.
On the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh, the author says that as a result of Armenia`s military aggression, 20 percent of Azerbaijan`s territory had been occupied and over one million people became refugees and IDPs. The article underlines that Armenia had pursued policy of ethnic cleansing against Azerbaijanis several times throughout history.
The article gives an insight into political structure of Azerbaijan, saying the country is a presidential republic, with the President as the head of state, and the Prime Minister as head of the government. “Executive power is exercised by the government. Legislative power is vested in both the government and Parliament. The Judiciary is nominally independent of the executive and the legislature.”
The article characterizes Azerbaijan as a rapidly developing country devoted to the democratic principles. The author points out that national leader of the Azerbaijani people Heydar Aliyev was an architect and founder of the modern Azerbaijan. “Heydar Aliyev played an indispensable role in strengthening independence and statehood of Azerbaijan, its economic development, and the country’s gaining a worthy place on the international scene.”
“As a successor to national leader Heydar Aliyev, President Ilham Aliyev has built a favorable political atmosphere in the country. It is evidenced today by the existence of more than 30 political parties in the country,” the author says.
The article also raises the awareness of readers about development of the country’s science, education and literature, as well as effective projects of Heydar Aliyev Foundation headed by the country’s First Lady, UNESCO and ISESCO goodwill ambassador, MP Mehriban Aliyeva.
