Kabul hosts trilateral meeting between Pakistan, China and Afghanistan

The Interim Afghan government hosted the fifth trilateral meeting between Pakistan, China and Afghanistan.
During the moot all the three countries vowed to cooperate on security and economy. Acting Afghan Foreign Minister, Amir Khan Muttaqi hosted the talks in capital Kabul, which was attended by Pakistan special envoy on Afghanistan Ambassador Mohammad Sadiq and Chinese Special Representative for Afghanistan Yue Xiaoyong.
During the meeting Pakistan, China and Afghanistan reviewed progress on commitments made during the last meeting. The meeting focused on the economic and security scenario of the region, and the representatives of the participant countries pledged to deepen cooperation in different fields.
The trilateral dialogue mechanism between Afghanistan, China and Pakistan was launched in 2017 to promote mutual trust, counter terrorism coordination and economic integration. Along with the important regional issues, the representatives of all the three countries discussed the trade, security issues and diplomatic cooperation.
The Afghan Acting Foreign Minister and special representatives of China and Pakistan also discussed the latest regional and international developments and stressed the importance of strengthening joint cooperation. He stressed the importance of Afghanistan's political and economic relations with neighboring countries, especially China and Pakistan.
As per the media reports, during the trilateral meeting, the officials of the participating countries discussed broader preparations for an upcoming meeting of foreign ministers from Afghanistan’s neighboring countries and reaffirmed their intention to expand political and economic engagement.
During the high level moot, the special representatives of China and Pakistan stressed their commitment to expand relations with Afghanistan based on the principles of good neighborliness and mutual respect.
