Kashagan oil to be pumped via Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline, Azerbaijani minister
Baku, May 16 (AZERTAC). “Oil produced at the Kashagan field in Kazakhstan will be partially piped via the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline,” Azerbaijani Minister of Energy Natig Aliyev told The Business Year magazine.
According to the Azerbaijani Minister, the Kazakhstani side has confirmed that volume of oil produced at the Kashagan field will rise from initially projected 23 million tons per year to 50 million tons at the second stage of the project development.
“In this case part of that oil will be exported westwards via Azerbaijan territory,” Minister Aliyev noted.
The Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline is a 1,768 km long crude oil pipeline connecting three countries - Azerbaijan, Turkey and Georgia. Its construction commenced in April 2003.
