Japanese Prime Minister Kishida Fumio said it is deeply regrettable that North Korea has again launched what is believed to be a ballistic missile, NHK World-Japan reports.
Kishida spoke to reporters on Tuesday. He said the latest projectile was fired after members of the UN Security Council held a meeting to discuss ways of dealing with the missile that the North launched on January 5.
The prime minister went on to say that the government is stepping up its vigilance and surveillance.
Kishida said he has instructed government officials to do their utmost to gather and analyze information. He also said that he has told them to provide that information to the public swiftly and accurately.
The prime minister added that he has instructed the officials to ensure the safety of aircraft and ships, and to take all possible measures to prepare for any type of event.
Kishida said he will inform the public as soon as the government has any additional details.
