MEETING AT DEFENSE MINISTRY
Visiting OSCE Minsk group co-chairs met Safar Abiyev, defense minister of Azerbaijan. Safar Abiyev expressed his hope that recent visit of co-chairs would give stimulus for settlement of conflict. Henry Jacolin, French ambassador said that negations were entering a new stage and stressed the importance of mutual compromises. If that doesn’t happen we won’t reach any improvement, Mr. Jacolin said. In his opinion every incidence at the contact line of troops may cause military confrontation. Therefore, such cases should be prevented, he stressed.
According to the information submitted from press secretary of the Ministry Abiyev’s reply was crucial again. The Armenian troops must withdraw from occupied territories, Mr. Abiyev said. Requirements of the UN four resolutions on immediate withdrawal of Armenian military forces from occupied territories should be implemented. Mission of the OSCE Minsk Group is to solve the problem. The final decision of OSCE should also be so. Azerbaijan will not cede a sod of its lands”.
The defense minister updated the co-chairs on training of the terrorists groups and accommodation of civil people at the occupied territories of Azerbaijan. What kind of compromises we can do while our territories have been occupied, Safar Abiyev said.
The US ambassador to Azerbaijan Reno Harnish and French ambassador Roland Blatman, OSCE personal envoy on Nagorny Karabakh ambassador Andzei Kaspshik took part at the meeting.
