Meta fires employees who abused its $25 Grubhub meal perk

Meta recently fired some employees for misusing a Grubhub meal perk, according to a person familiar with the situation.
Business Insider reported that roughly two dozen employees were terminated for abusing the company's meal credit system, this person said. They asked not to be identified discussing legally sensitive internal matters.
The Grubhub perk is intended to support employees who work at locations where free meals aren't provided by a cafeteria or when employees work late and need food delivered to the office.
Instead of purchasing meals, some Meta employees used the $25 credit to order other items, including laundry detergent, wine glasses, and acne pads, the person familiar with the situation said.
The roughly two dozen staff were fired for a repeated pattern of misuse, the person added. The Financial Times first reported the news.
Some Meta employees have discussed the incident at length in recent days on Blind, an online workforce forum.
Business Insider reviewed these Blind discussions, including screenshots of some discussions that took place in a section of the app only accessible to Meta employees.
Some employees in those discussions said the firings happened in Los Angeles. While Meta offers free food to many of its employees based in key offices, it provides meal credits to employees based in smaller offices, such as its LA one.
Meta said on Wednesday that it reorganized some of its biggest businesses, including Instagram, WhatsApp, and Reality Labs, eliminating some roles.
