Mexican TV highlights Azerbaijan’s growing global influence

Azerbaijani Ambassador to Mexico Mammad Talibov spoke in an interview with Julio Cesar Garcia, host of the local Canal 6 TV online media channel, about the current state of Azerbaijani-Mexican relations, Azerbaijan’s achievements, and its expanding influence worldwide.
Discussing the traditionally strong ties between Azerbaijan and Mexico, the ambassador emphasized the positive momentum in bilateral relations. He noted the significance of high-level visits to Mexico in recent months and highlighted the active political dialogue between the two countries. Talibov also mentioned exemplary inter-parliamentary relations, including friendship groups operating within the legislative bodies of both nations, which have fostered very active cooperation.
The ambassador spoke about fruitful cooperation within international organizations, underscoring the importance of collaboration between Azerbaijan and Mexico in the framework of COP29.
Regarding renewable energy, Talibov described Azerbaijan as a regional leader in the transition to green energy and an active contributor to global climate change efforts. He stressed Azerbaijan’s significant potential in wind energy, noting that the country is already exporting green energy and participating in numerous international projects in this sector.
Responding to a question about economic diversification, Talibov acknowledged Azerbaijan’s historical status as an oil and gas country but emphasized that crucial steps have been taken over the past 20 years to diversify the economy.
The ambassador also addressed Armenia’s military aggression against Azerbaijan. He pointed out that during the 30-year occupation, Armenia systematically destroyed Azerbaijan’s cultural heritage and extensively mined the occupied territories. He called on the international community to assist Azerbaijan in mine clearance efforts. Talibov further highlighted the large-scale restoration and construction projects underway in the liberated territories, as well as initiatives to facilitate the return of internally displaced persons to their homes.
Regarding COP29, the ambassador described the conference hosted by Azerbaijan as one of the most successful COP events to date.
