MIKHAIL SAAKASHVILI CELEBRATES VICTORY
According to the preliminary data of the Central Election Committee, over 85%, or 1,7 mln of voters attended the elections, AzerTAj correspondent from Tbilisi reports. 86,6% of voters supported candidature of Mikhail Saakashvili. He declared on his victory at the Presidential elections and expressed his gratitude to his supporters and people.
On January 5, until 5 a.m., Mikhail Saakashvili’s supporters celebrated this victory at the Liberty square, in Tbilisi.
State Minister of Georgia Zurab Jvaniya stated that Presidential elections in Georgia were fair and transparent.
Over 450 observers have supervised Presidential elections in Georgia, 2875 electoral areas and 75 constituencies functioned, as well as 250 journalists from abroad and CIS countries covered elections.
According to the experts, extremely hard heritage fell to the share of Mikhail Saakashvili from previous power: social-economic life of the country is under the profound crisis, conflicts in Abkhazia and Southern Osetia, solution of which are basis of pre-election campaign of Mikhail Saakashili. In short, new President of Georgia, 36, should solve many problems. People rely on his energy and expect a lot from the new head of state.
