Milli Majlis adopts statement to protest against EuroParliament`s resolution
Baku, May 30 (AZERTAC). The Azerbaijani Parliament has adopted a statement to protest against the resolution on Azerbaijan adopted by the European Parliament.
The statement says that the resolution of the European Parliament adopted hastily with the participation of 56 MEPs was incomprehensible.
NGOs being under influence of different political powers are making statements against Azerbaijan. Our country actively cooperates with international organizations. Azerbaijan is one of the founders of the Euronest Parliament Assembly. While establishing this structure, it was believed that disputable issues would be discussed at this organization.
But the decision has been made at the European Parliament without consulting with the Euronest Parliament Assembly. Some groups being under the influence of Armenian lobby use human rights issues in Azerbaijan as a pretext to prevent the just settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
But if the goal was really to protect human rights, then human rights in Armenia would be brought onto agenda. The last resolution doesn’t bring use to the development of the bilateral relations. It casts shadow on the progress achieved within the Eastern Partnership Program of the EU.
The statement underlines that the European Parliament's resolution was a biased and unjust act directed against Azerbaijan.
"We inform the European Parliament that its double standards approach to Azerbaijan is inadmissible. The administration of Milli Majlis is instructed to deliver this decision to members of the European Parliament, who didn’t participate in the adoption of this resolution."
