MM SPEAKER MEETS MINISTER FOR INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION OF EGYPT
Chairman of Milli Majlis (Azerbaijan Parliament) Ogtay Asadov met Saturday with visiting Egypt’s Minister for International Cooperation Faiza Abu El Naga and her accompanying delegation.
According to Asadov, after regaining its independence Azerbaijan established relations with the Arab Republic of Egypt, too. He underlined the documents signed during President Ilham Aliyev’s visit to Egypt have created a strong legal basis for development of cooperation between the two states.
Chairman also spoke about the interparliamentary relations, and welcomed the recent visit of the members of the Egypt-Azerbaijan Interparliamentary friendship group to Azerbaijan.
Asadov stressed Azerbaijan became the leader in the region.
He informed the Egyptian official about the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh and thanked Egypt for supporting Azerbaijan’s just position towards the settlement of the conflict.
Asadov said Azerbaijan supports peaceful settlement of the conflict based on the international law. But if peace talks will produce no results, Azerbaijan will liberate its territory by any means.
Mrs. El Naga expressed satisfaction with her being in Azerbaijan for the second time and thanked for hospitality.
She said Egypt shows interest to Azerbaijan. El Naga highlighted the twinning arrangement signed between the Egypt’s Qalyubia Governorate and Azerbaijan’s Absheron region.
Egyptian Minister underlined the monument to Azerbaijan’s nationwide leader Heydar Aliyev was mounted in one of the central streets of Qalyubia.
First vice-speaker of Milli Majlis Ziyafet Asgerov, head of the administration of Milli Majlis Safa Mirzeyev, ambassadors of Egypt and Azerbaijan and other officials were present at the meeting.
