A monument to the nationwide leader of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev will be erected in Ulyanovsk Oblast of Russia.

Sergey Morozov, Governor of Ulyanovsk Oblast said the erection of the monument would contribute to strengthening of friendly relations and cultural-economic cooperation between Russia and Azerbaijan.

The inauguration ceremony of the monument will be held this summer, with the participation of the Azerbaijani delegation.

S. Morozov also mentioned his visit to Azerbaijan in 2006, and said “this visit gave impetus to the social, economic and cultural cooperation between Azerbaijan and Ulyanovsk”.

According to him, Azerbaijan, among CIS countries, occupies the fourth place for the trade turnover with Ulyanovsk.

He also highly appreciated significant role of the Azerbaijani Diaspora in developing mutual cooperation.
