The funeral of Giorgio Napolitano, the two-time former president of the republic who died in Rome on Friday aged 98, will be held on Tuesday with a non-religious ceremony at Palazzo Montecitorio, the seat of the Lower House of parliament, according to ANSA.

Instead the chapel of rest will be opened at the Senate on Sunday at 10am local time in the presence of the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, and the Senate Speaker, Ignazio la Russa, parliamentary sources have said.

Access will then be open to people wanting to pay their respects from 11am until 6pm and then on Monday from 10am until 4pm.
