National leader Heydar Aliyev`s 91st anniversary marked in Egypt
Cairo, May 11 (AZERTAC). Azerbaijan`s Embassy in Egypt has organized an event to mark the 91st anniversary of national leader Heydar Aliyev.
The event was attended by Egyptian public and political figures, scholars, students and representatives of the Azerbaijani diaspora organizations.
Addressing the event, Azerbaijan`s ambassador Shahin Abdullayev briefed the participants on the life and activity of national leader Heydar Aliyev. He noted Heydar Aliyev returned to power in 1993 upon insistent demand of the Azerbaijani people. The diplomat pointed out the national leader started the process of independent state building, adding Heydar Aliyev took important steps to ensure stability and security in the country. “Due to Heydar Aliyev`s efforts the Constitution of Azerbaijan was adopted in 1995 and international relations of the country expanded.”
Abdullayev said national leader Heydar Aliyev`s successful oil strategy and major projects initiated by him ensured long-term development of Azerbaijan. “Today President Ilham Aliyev successfully continues the national leader`s political course.”
The ambassador also briefed the event participants on the accomplishments achieved in Azerbaijan in political, economic, social and humanitarian spheres.
Former Director of the Egyptian Cultural Center in Azerbaijan, professor at the Helwan University Adil Darvish also praised national Heydar Aliyev`s contributions to ensuring development of Azerbaijan. The professor described national leader Heydar Aliyev`s tenure at the head of Azerbaijan in the second half of the 20th century and 1990’s as “an important historic chance” for the Azerbaijani people.
The event participants saw a documentary on the life and activities of national leader Heydar Aliyev.
