NATIONAL RADIO AND TELEVISION COUNCIL HOLDS SEMINAR
The National Radio and Television Council of Azerbaijan held November 25 a seminar at the International Press Center in Baku to discuss how provisions of the Law On Tele-radio Broadcasting are observed by state owned and private TV channels. In his remarks Chairman of the Council Nurshiravan Maharramov spoke of the irregularities revealed as a result of monitoring of some television channels. The most of problems he said are connected with ads on television. The channels exceed the 12-minute time limit for showing infomercials, and if this continues, the Council will resort to existing mechanism of punishment, he said. Mr. Maharramov also threatened to take special measures against disguised ads. In the end he announced that all broadcasting means would be under strict control between December 7 and 21.
