All schools in Norway will soon be equipped with panic alarms to alert students and teachers of a major terrorist attack or a fire, Norwegian media quoted sources from the country's education department. For the time being the project was launched only in the educational institutions of Oslo, but it is expected to be implemented in other cities of the country. The new system includes a flashing light on the ceiling, each office will be equipped with a loud-speakers which can transmit messages to the whole school. In the case of an emergency, people will be informed about necessary actions. The system defines a panic alarm as a security system signal that can be manually activated to signal a life-threatening or emergency situation that requires a response from law enforcement. Norwegians still remember Anders Breivik, who killed eight people by setting off a van bomb amid government buildings in Oslo, and then shot dead 69 participants of a Workers' Youth League (AUF) summer camp.
