Nvidia to partner with Albania on ‘Diella’ artificial intelligence project
Baku, February 17, AZERTAC
U.S. technology company Nvidia, a world leader in artificial intelligence computing, will partner with Albania on the development of the artificial intelligence project known as “Diella,” Prime Minister Edi Rama said on Tuesday, the Albanian News Agency (ATA) reported.
PM Rama announced the planned cooperation during the presentation of the new head of the National Agency for Information Society (AKSHI), Igli Tafa, describing the move as a significant step in Albania’s digital transformation.
“Yesterday we were on a Zoom call with Nvidia, which is ready to become Albania’s partner for Diella. It is unimaginable,” Rama said, adding that a company team is expected to visit Tirana soon to begin work on the next phase of the project.
Rama said Albania’s progress in digital governance had created the conditions to move toward advanced AI models. He noted that the government’s e-Albania platform now delivers more than 1,000 online public services for citizens at home and abroad, compared with a limited number of services in earlier years.
The government head said AKSHI faces new challenges, including the potential use of artificial intelligence in public procurement to increase efficiency and transparency in state administration.
He also highlighted cooperation with Microsoft, describing the partnership as strong and citing positive assessments from senior company officials regarding Albania’s digital transformation.
“Artificial intelligence should become a new driving force for this country,” Rama said, while adding that institutions must address any issues that affect public trust and reputation.
