OFFICIAL VISIT OF PREMIER OF AZERBAIJAN TO THE REPUBLIC OF LITHUANIA

On 2 April, staying on an official visit in Vilnius, the Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Artur Rasizadeh and his entourage visited the Antakalnisskiy cemetery where they laid wreath on the Memorial of fighters for independence of Lithuania, who fell on 13 January 1991 near the Vilnius tele-center, revered their memories, AzerTAj correspondent reported.

After excursion to the Old City and touring sightseeing of the capital of Lithuania, in the Vilnius Mayoral was held a meeting of the head of Azerbaijan Government with the vice-mayor of Vilnius Algimantas Vakarinas. In the course of conversation, the parties exchanged views on experience of town building, housing, and other issues.

The same day, a one-on-one meeting was held between Mr. Artur Rasizadeh and Premier of the Republic of Lithuania Algirdas Brazauskas. Then, was held a meeting of the delegations led by the heads of governments of the two countries. Discussed were issues connected with the necessity of activation of the trade-economic links between the two independent states.

With the meetings and talks completed, signed were the following documents: Protocol of the meeting of Premier of the Republic of Lithuania A. Brazauskas with the Premier of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Artur Rasizadeh, the Convention on avoiding of double taxation related to the tax on incomes and capital, the Agreement on mutual assistance in the customs affairs, as well as the Inter-governmental Agreement between the Services on investigation of finance infringements with the tax offences. The Premiers signed the first two documents.

After bilateral meetings and singing of documents, the heads of governments A. Rasizadeh and A. Brazauskas answered the questions of the local and foreign journalists.

Then, on behalf of the Lithuanian government in the honor of Premier of Azerbaijan Artur Rasizadeh was arranged dinner.

On 2 April, also was held the meeting between Premier of Azerbaijan Artur Rasizadeh and chairman of Seym (Parliament) of Lithuania Arturas Paulauskas.

Head of Azerbaijan Government and the Lithuanian Speaker in the course of negotiations focused the issues of expansion and deepening the inter-parliamentarian co-op between the two countries.

Further, A. Rasizadeh met the Minister of Guard of the Territory Linas Linkevicius.

In the evening on the same day, Premier of Azerbaijan Artur Rasizadeh met the representatives of the business circles of Lithuania, heads of large public and private structures. A. Rasizadeh updated the businessmen of Lithuania on favorable environment in Azerbaijan, growth in the national economy and called on the Lithuanian executives to actively become familiar with the Azerbaijan market.

The second day of the official visit of Premier Artur Rasizadeh to Vilnius ended in attending the reception arranged by the Chairman of Seym and Premier of Lithuania on the occasion of admission of the Republic of Lithuania to NATO.
