OIC MEMBER STATES TOUR OPERATORS FORUM WRAPS UP IN BAKU
Forum of the tour operators of the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) member states took place in Baku, on April 13. The delegates from Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Cameroon, UAE, Jordan, Iran, China, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Georgia, Japan, Italy attended the event.
The forum is aimed at popularizing history and cultural values of the Silk Road, enhancing tourism cooperation among the OIC member states.
The forum started with address of Azerbaijani Minister of Culture and Tourism Abulfaz Garayev to the participants. Representative of the World Tourism Organization (WTO) Vanessa Satur stressed an important role of Azerbaijan in development of the Silk Road. Head of the apparatus of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism Firudin Gurbanov delivered report on Azerbaijan’s role in the Silk Road”. Mr. Gurbanov told of success of Azerbaijan in tourism sector. “Number of tourists is increasing day by day. Currently, 142 hotels are operating in the country”, said Firudin Gurbanov.
The forum participants were in detailed informed about tourism routes, history, culture and national cuisine of Azerbaijan. The guests will also visit Gabala and Shaki regions.
