OSCE/ODIHR election observation mission visits Ganja
Ganja, September 20 (AZERTAC). Head of the election observation mission of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) Tana de Zulueta and her accompanying delegation have visited Ganja to observe the run-up to the upcoming presidential election in Azerbaijan.
Head of the Ganja Executive Authorities Elmar Valiyev informed the OSCE/ODIHR delegation about the preparations put in place in the district election commissions in four constituencies and at 124 polling stations. He spoke of the environment created for holding democratic and transparent elections.
Tana de Zulueta said the visit aimed at monitoring of the run-up to the upcoming presidential elections in Ganja.
She said the OSCE/ODIHR has established 15 observation groups to ensure that elections are in line international norms and the Azerbaijan Election Code. Two of these groups are operating in Ganja.
She noted nearly 200 OSCE representatives would be monitoring the elections, adding “we witnessed serious preparatory work carried out in the Republic for upcoming important political campaign”.
The OSCE/ODIHR delegation has also visited headquarters of several political parties in Ganja.
