Pakistan: 15 killed in factory gas explosion

In Pakistan, 15 people, including six children, were killed and many others seriously injured in a reported gas explosion in Faisalabad, the second-largest city in Punjab province. According to rescue officials, the intensity of the blast caused the roof of the factory and several nearby houses to collapse, trapping many people under the debris.
Four people died on the spot, while the injured were taken to nearby hospitals. A rescue operation was ongoing at the time of the last reports. Local authorities said that more than 20 ambulances and fire tenders were deployed immediately after the incident. Videos shared by rescue officials showed workers searching through rubble for survivors.
Faisalabad, the third-most populous city in Pakistan, is often referred to as the “Manchester of Pakistan” due to its extensive textile industry and numerous factories.
