Pakistani PM meets with Iranian President in New York

Pakistani Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif met Iranian President, Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian, on the sidelines of 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
According to the Prime Minister's Office, both sides reviewed the entire spectrum of bilateral relations and underscored the need to further strengthen good neighbourly relations and build mutually beneficial cooperation.
During the meeting, the Pakistani Prime Minister highlighted the importance of enhancing bilateral trade and investment, improving connectivity and cultural ties with Iran.
Pakistan shares its borders with Iran and enjoys cordial relations with the neighbouring country based on religious bonds, historic linkages and cultural affinities. It is worth mentioning that Iran was one of the first countries to recognize Pakistan after its independence in 1947 from the British colonial rule.
