PARTICIPANTS OF AYNA-2007 FESTIVAL VISIT AZERTAC
A group of photographers from Canada, Serbia, Slovenia and Georgia participating in the 2nd Baku International Festival of Art Photography “Ayna 2007”, visited the office of Azerbaijan State Telegraph Agency (AZERTAC) on May 22.Director General of AZERTAC Aslan Aslanov provided the guests with detailed information on history and outstanding tasks of the agency, and the work it has done to closer integrate into the global information space.
He mentioned exceptional contributions of the national leader of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev to the process of Azerbaijan’s integration into the West. Mr. Aslanov noted that President Ilham Aliyev attaches a particular importance to development of the country’s relations with the international community in political, economic and cultural spheres, that he said manifests itself in the AZERTAC’s activity as well.
Speaking of AZERTAC’s cooperation with foreign news agencies, the Director General informed the visitors about the work done for Azerbaijan to break the information blockade the country once faced. He also let them know the causes and consequences of the Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, pointing out that states and international organizations support Azerbaijan’s fair position with respect to the problem’s resolution.
Mr. Aslanov described the fact of conduction of the International Festival of Art Photography in Azerbaijan, which is following the path of European integration, as very important.
Renowned Serbian photographer Tmislav Peternek thanked the AZERTAC for the warm hospitality, recalled his last visit to Azerbaijan 30 years ago, and emphasized the festival’s significance for expansion of ties between peoples.
