Poland reaffirms support for Albania’s EU accession during Begaj visit

President of the Republic Bajram Begaj participated on Monday in Poznań, at the invitation of Polish President Karol Nawrocki, in the commemorative ceremony marking the 70th anniversary of the 1956 Poznań Uprising, one of the most significant events of resistance against the communist regime in Central and Eastern Europe, the Alban News Agency (ATA) reported.
During the ceremony, the participating heads of state adopted a joint declaration reaffirming their commitment to preserving historical memory and defending freedom, sovereignty, and the right of nations to self-determination.
On the sidelines of the event, President Bajram Begaj held a bilateral meeting with his Polish counterpart, Karol Nawrocki, focusing on strengthening relations between the two countries and Poland’s support for Albania’s European integration process.
President Begaj expressed his gratitude for Poland’s continued support for Albania’s path toward membership in the European Union, praising Warsaw’s leading role in promoting the EU’s enlargement to include the countries of the Western Balkans.
The Head of State also highlighted the concrete assistance that Poland has provided to Albanian institutions through the exchange of expertise in the process of aligning Albanian legislation with the European Union acquis. He emphasized that Poland’s experience in democratic transformation, economic development, and meeting European standards serves as a valuable model for Albania.
President Begaj expressed his confidence that relations between Albania and Poland will continue to strengthen, both politically and through bilateral cooperation, for the benefit of the citizens of both countries.
For his part, President Karol Nawrocki reaffirmed Poland’s support for Albania’s European perspective and expressed his readiness to deepen cooperation in support of advancing the European integration process and strengthening the partnership between the two countries.
