PRESIDENT ILHAM ALIYEV INAUGURATES NEW BUILDING OF BAKU CHIEF TRAFFIC POLICE DEPARTMENT
President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev today has attended the inauguration of a new administration building of the Baku Chief Traffic Police Department.
President Ilham Aliyev greeted the staff of the capital traffic police and cut the ribbon marking the official opening of the building.
Construction of the five-storey building was started by the Interior Ministry’s Overhaul Construction Department in May last year. The estimated construction cost of the building is AZN 2 million.
The ground floor of the building houses the traffic signal control center, service rooms, club and duty section.
The stands reflecting national leader Heydar Aliyev’s activity was created on the first floor, and President Ilham Aliyev’s activity on the second floor.
Up-to-date equipment in the traffic control center allows monitoring accidents in the streets of Baku, speed of cars and traffic congestions. The data gets automatically saved for long time to make investigation easier.
President Ilham Aliyev watched via monitors the traffic at the
intersection of the traffic-clogged Bakikhanov and Samad Vurgun streets. He said that it is necessary to install traffic signal control system.
Interior Minister Ramil Usubov and Head of the Chief Traffic Police Department Ramiz Zeynalov noted that installation of the traffic signal control system has already begun. This system is used in the central streets of Baku, allowing adjusting the traffic in five minutes.
President Ilham Aliyev stressed the possibility of taking measures against drivers who break rules of the road by means of these devices. According to him, drivers must know that such a system already exists in the country to ensure a full traffic control.
The Head of State noted that a special center will be created to strengthen control over the rules of the road in Baku. Mr. Aliyev gave instructions on increasing the number of traffic management and traffic signal control equipments.
