The presidents’ one-on-one meeting was continued in an enlarged format.
Addressing his Polish counterpart the Azerbaijani leader thanked President Kaczynski for participation in the GUAM Summit. President Aliyev said: “We are very grateful to you for accepting our invitation and taking part in the summit of GUAM, the organization, which is now going through a very important stage of its development. I consider our intensive dialogue
as continuation of our contacts, cemented during your official visit to Azerbaijan and energy summit in Krakow, which had also been successful. We are very optimistic about developing bilateral relations on the basis of mutual benefit… Of special importance is the fact that you have arrived in Baku on your birthday. I want to congratulate you on this wonderful occasion, and wish you success in your activity for the sake of the Polish people and for the sake of Europe, and many years of active leadership of the country.”
President Kaczynski thanked his Azerbaijani colleague for the congratulations. “Thank you very much Mr. President… I indeed came here on my birth day. Significance I attach to relations with Azerbaijan and the organization GUAM is of more priority than my birthday. This significance is marked by the fact that I came to Baku two days before an extremely important meeting, the summit of the European Union,” he said.
