PRESIDENT ILHAM ALIYEV OFFERED CONDOLENCES TO GALINA VISHNEVSKAYA
President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has sent a message of condolence to Galina Vishnevskaya on the demise of Mstislav Rostropovich.
The message reads:
Dear Galina Pavlovna,
It is with deep sorrow that I learned of the death of your spouse, our great fellow countryman, and outstanding figure in the world’s musical culture Mstislav Leopoldovich Rostropovich.
On behalf of myself and the people of Azerbaijan, I extend my deepest condolences and sympathy to You, and relatives and friends of Mstislav Rostropovich.
The name of Mstislav Rostropovich, the world-renowned musician, gifted cellist and conductor, who triumphantly performed with the world’s best symphonic orchestras has gone down forever in the treasury of the world’s musical art.
Mstislav Rostropovich was a genuine citizen of the world, prominent public figure, man of the highest morals, who has always and everywhere stood up for the exalted ideas of humanism and the values common to all mankind. He will remain in our memory as a vivid, exceptional personality and wonderful and extremely fascinating man.
We have suffered a severe and irreplaceable loss. Mehriban khanum and I share your pain, and deeply mourn and sincerely sympathize with you.
