PRESIDENT OF AZERBAIJAN ILHAM ALIYEV RECEIVED DIRECTOR GENERAL OF ITAR-TASS
Greeting the guest, President Ilham Aliyev recalled his meetings with the Agency’s management while visiting Moscow and during the World Russian Media Congress in Baku. Touching on the Azerbaijan-Russia relationship, the Head of State mentioned successfully developing cooperation between the two countries in political, economic, humanitarian and other spheres. He noted, in this connection, that the recent Russia-Azerbaijan business forum, days of Russian culture held in Azerbaijan, as well as the agreement on conducting a Year of Russia in Azerbaijan and a Year of Azerbaijan in Russia is a vivid evidence of this.
President Ilham Aliyev expressed both satisfaction with his visit to Russia early this year and hope for steady development of the relationship in future. He also expressed hope that the fruitful cooperation between ITAR-TASS and Azerbaijani agencies would be further expanded and deepened.
Having thanked the Azerbaijani leader for the warm meeting, ITAR-TASS Director General Vitaliy Ignatenko described this as a realization of the agreements, which President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and President of Russia Vladimir Putin had reached during the Azerbaijani leader’s visit to Moscow. According to him, very positive results have been achieved since then in the sphere of information cooperation. Vitaliy Ignatenko called the coincidence of this visit and marking the day of nationwide leader Heydar Aliyev’s coming to power as very symbolic.
The ITAR-TASS Director General advised as well that a concrete plan of further information exchange had been developed, and expressed confidence that the joint Azerbaijan-Russia information field closely watched by the Heads of the two states would be fruitfully developed.
