PRESIDENT OF AZERBAIJAN RECEIVED WCO SECRETARY GENERAL
Head of Azerbaijan state reminded his recent meeting with Mr. Michel Danet in Brussels and signing documents with WCO, as well as opening of Dada Gorgud’s monument in front of this Organization. Expressing his gratitude to WCO Secretary General for assistance and recommendations rendered to Azerbaijan in the field of customs, President Ilham Aliyev said that the Country is the active member of WCO and large scale works are being done in this sphere in the Republic and highly assessed opening of regional training center in Azerbaijan.
President of Azerbaijan also stressed intensive development of Country’s economy in numerous fields, including the leading position of the Republic in the region, expressed confidence that the republic would keep this position in the years coming either. Head of Azerbaijan state stated that Azerbaijan would further continue cooperation with the World Customs Organization.
Expressing his gratitude to Azerbaijan President Mr. Michel Danet said that eh had visited the tomb of the national leader of Azerbaijan President Heydar Aliyev and recovered his unforgettable memory. “I recalled the meeting with him. I have deeply regarded every word Heydar Aliyev said. I do it today, too”.
Reminding his meetings with President Ilham Aliyev in Brussels Michel Danet said that the meetings of Azerbaijan President with the leaders of European Union and NATO in Brussels were also success. Underlining that Azerbaijan is one of the most active members of the World Customs Organization, he said Azerbaijan and WCO are implementing successive joint projects. The key goal of the visit is to study opportunities to reach more favorable conclusions in the frame of Protocol signed in Brussels, Mr. Danet told. He also informed that Interpol and World Customs Organization are said to arrange a fair of modern equipment ensuring safety and protection in Azerbaijan in May 2005. And the guest conveyed appropriate request of Interpol’s Secretary General to the head of Azerbaijan state to direct this event personally.
