PRESIDENT OF AZERBAIJAN REPUBLIC RECEIVES EX-CHAIRMAN OF RF GOVERNMENT
Warmly greeting the guest, Head of Azerbaijan state said there have been established close links between him and Azerbaijan when he led gas industry of the Russian Federation and later as a Chairman of the RF Government. President Ilham Aliyev reminded that in those years there have been adopted important decisions connected with strengthening of cooperation between Azerbaijan and Russia in the field of oil and gas industry, transportation of energy carriers, in general, on bilateral economic relations.
Head of Azerbaijan Republic spoke of the friendly ties connecting once the guest and national leader of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev, stressing with pleasure that these ties always based on deep mutual respect.
Dwelling on the Russian-Azerbaijani relations, President Ilham Aliyev underlined their dynamics based on positive fundament. President Ilham Aliyev’s official visit to the Russian Federation in early this year, the held effective negotiations and meetings were confirmation to this. Recently, passed successfully the days of culture of Russia in Baku, the Russian-Azerbaijan business forum, the planned conduction of year of Azerbaijan in Russia and year of Russia in Azerbaijan, efficient work of inter-governmental commission, frequent reciprocal visits of delegations are evidence to high level of mutually understanding between the countries. President Ilham Aliyev expressed hope that these tendencies would be further continued in strategic partnership spirit.
Head of Azerbaijan Republic reminding his last visit to Ukraine and meeting with Victor Chernomirdin there, thanked for participation at the ceremony of opening of the monument to the national leader of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev in this country and assessed it as a token of deep respect and consideration to his memory from the side of Victor Chernomirdin and, in the whole, Russia.
Ex-chairman of the RF Government expressed gratitude for warm reception and conveyed greetings from the Russian President Vladimir Putin. Speaking of his long-years connections with Azerbaijan, Victor Chernomirdin expressed deep regret from decease of Heydar Aliyev. He with great warmness reminded his meetings with this outstanding politician. He underlined that still in the 80s of the last century he had been in Azerbaijan in connection with his scientific activity, and he closely had felt care and attention of the national leader of Azerbaijan people.
The guest expressed hope for further development and strengthening of the Azerbaijani-Russian relations.
Then, Victor Chernomirdin was presented a picture with the portraits of Heydar Aliyev and President Ilham Aliyev.
First Premier of Azerbaijan Abbas Abbasov, ambassador of Russia to Azerbaijan Nikolay Ryabov participated at the reception.
