I was saddened to learn of the sudden demise of His Excellency Mr. Heydar Aliyev, former President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, while receiving medical treatment in the United States.
On behalf of the Government and the people of Sri Lanka, I would like to convey my deepest sympathies on this sad occasion to the Government and the people of the Republic of Azerbaijan and to the members of the bereaved family.
