Propaganda against Azerbaijan in Russia suggests a state-driven policy – COMMENTARY
Baku, June 29, AZERTAC
“On June 27, a raid conducted by Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) on the homes of Azerbaijanis in Yekaterinburg resulted in the deaths and injuries of our compatriots. Available information indicates that the use of force against defenseless individuals was demonstrative and carried out with extreme cruelty,” said Gaya Mammadov, a member of Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis, in an interview with AZERTAC.
He noted that the recent surge of anti-Azerbaijan propaganda in Russia’s state media, coupled with the country’s ethnically and religiously discriminatory actions and the failure to take adequate measures following the shooting down of an Azerbaijan Airlines plane in Russian airspace in December 2024, creates the impression that these actions are part of a deliberate state policy.
“We strongly condemn these actions by Russia, which contradict the principles of bilateral relations, international law, and universal human values. We demand that all individuals involved in the killings and acts of violence in Yekaterinburg be promptly held criminally accountable,” Mammadov emphasized.
