Railway lines will be laid to Gabala and Gusar, President

"The investment program of this year features the repair and reconstruction of the Baku-Yalama railway. The relocation of the Baku-Astara railway line, in particular its part which is close to the sea, will be completed," President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has told a Cabinet meeting.
The head of state noted the importance of the issue both to tourism and cargo transportation.
"Another project aimed at developing tourism is included in the state investment program. This is the construction of the Laki-Gabala railway. Today Gabala is the second tourism center in Azerbaijan after Baku. Laying the railway to Gabala will increase the flow of tourists to the region," the head of state said.
"We are also planning to ensure the construction of the railway to the Shahdagh ski resort in the years ahead. Of course, we have to coordinate this project with the Baku-Yalama railway. Because, it should be the fastest way to go to Shahdagh by rail. Nowadays, the Baku-Yalama railway is not in the condition to handle high-speed trains. The Baku-Yalama route and the railway to Gusar district will be featured in a single project. We are planning this. That is why, I would like the Azerbaijani public to be aware of this," President Ilham Aliyev added.
